In 2023 the district was granted a loan through the Oklahoma Water Resources Board OWRB for much needed improvements/upgrades to ensure reliability of our water delivery system.  The loan requires a specific income to debt ratio.  To meet that obligation rates needed to be increased.  The Oklahoma Rural Water Association ORWA conducted a rate study and presented those findings to the Board.  Those increases were approved and will become effective April 1, 2024.

The improvement/ upgrades are:

relocate and replace the existing intake dock

add a second micro filter membrane system

new standpipe (tower)

We are also seeking a grant through the Cherokee Nation to help pay to replace the filters in the existing system.  

We have applied through the Oklahoma DEQ Drinking Water State Revolving Fund to help with additional projects.

We also need to address water loss issues.

We understand no one wants to be charged more for things they buy, especially essential needs like water.  These improvements are what our employees and contract services have recommended to address immediate conserns.
